During performances of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, The Driftwood Players are pleased to feature the work of artist Karen MacLin Orders in the lobby of The Wade James Theatre.
These works are part of a recent series she calls Sequentials and Serials. The Sequentials are a series of images that happened in sequence and, put together in order, make one piece. They can be seen as the tiniest of movies, a mere few seconds of life.
The Serials are multiples of the same subject or object. They have been arranged in various orders to make one larger piece. Sometimes there are duplicate sections in the Serials prints. The Serials can almost be seen as a cubist-type of work, where the same thing is seen at slightly different angles at the same time.
Karen MacLin Orders is a native of California, but has been living in the Seattle area for about 25 years. She is married, has two sons, and has lived in Edmonds for 18 years. Karen has been making photographs since she was young in Santa Barbara, where she grew up. She earned a degree commercial photography in the late 80’s and has worked as a photographer since then. Currently she is earning a degree in Fine Art Photography at the University of Washington and devoting more and more of her time to art.
